Voicebooks is a small company with one idea — a child should be able to hear the people who love them read to them, whether or not those people can be in the room.
Where it started
A hotel room, a picture book, and a phone propped on the kettle
Voicebooks began as a voice memo. A parent away for work, reading The Gruffalo into a phone in a hotel room so it could be played at bedtime three time zones away. It worked — the child asked for it every night — and it was terrible: one long file, no pages, no way for Grandma to do the same, and it lived in a chat thread until it didn't.
So we built the thing the voice memo wanted to be. A book on the screen, one page at a time. Anybody in the family able to record. A shelf a child can open by themselves. And a promise that the recordings stay.

A plan sizes the shelf, never the family. Every grandparent, every aunt, every child, on every plan, including the free one.
